Iniciativa Guatemala (IG) provides free youth-friendly consultations for sexual and reproductive health at numerous locations around the Guatemala City landfill. This space provides differentiated attention focused on meeting the needs of local youth who are navigating sexuality, relationships, gender inequality, machismo, and family planning. This program links seamlessly with IG’s contraception program for youth looking to avoid an unplanned pregnancy.

In 2018, IG partnered with WINGS – another Guatemala nonprofit that focuses on sexual and reproductive health for women – to provide free contraceptive services and cervical cancer screening to marginalized communities near the landfill. WINGS operates these clinics within IG’s youth centers and partnering community centers.
